Hukseflux SR03, fast response solar radiation sensor

Hukseflux SR03, fast response solar radiation sensor.

SR03 is the first thermopile based solar radiation sensor with a full response within 1 second. It is therefore ideally suited for PV applications, where response time is critical. SR03 complies with the latest ISO and WMO standards.

A nice clear print of the original product brochure.

SR03 serves to measure the solar radiation flux that is incident on a plane surface in W/m2 from a 180 degrees field of view (also called “global” solar radiation). The scientific name is pyranometer. Working completely passive, using the total new type of thermopile sensor, SR03 generates a small output voltage proportional to this flux. Contrary to photodiode-based- and “black and white” instruments SR03 has a spectrally flat response across the full solar spectrum.
Using SR03 is easy. For readout one only needs an accurate voltmeter that works in the millivolt range. SR03 can directly be connected to most commonly used datalogging systems.

Figure 2 SR03 dimensions. Standard cable length is 5m. All dimensions are in mm. Cable can be installed / replaced by the user.

SR03 can be used for general meteorological observations, building physics, climate- and solar collector testing. However, because of its fast response time, it is ideally suited for PV application, where it will match the response time of the panels more closely than other types. Also use on ships and airplanes in conjunction with tilt sensors is a possibility.
Applicable standards are ISO 9060 and 9847, WMO (World Meteorological Organisation), and ASTM E824-05.
